Steve Edlefsen, a.k.a Dr. Shred, has been involved with music since an early age, starting with piano at age 6. His father is Blaine Edlefsen, professor emeritis of music at the University of Illinios. Steve graduated from the University of Illinois with a degree in Computer Engineering and worked in the aeropspace industry at Hughes Aircraft, Magnavox, TRW and Northrop-Grumman for 34 years as a digital design engineer
